Since 2008, at the end of the year, „Political Club of Women 50/50”
has a beautiful tradition of gathering women and men representatives of all political parties, famous personalities of public life, mass media, and active members of society engaged in promoting gender equality, to the „Women Can Do It” BAL. This celebration gives us the opportunity to summarize and evaluate the activities carried out throughout the year, to communicate and strengthen solidarity among women, as well as to know better one another.
On 11th of December 2010, at the „ Vila Verde ” Hotel, took place The BAL „Women Can Do It 2010” – special occasion – award of Gender Equality Prize, with the financial support of the East European Foundation.
The Prize for initiative and involvement in promoting gender equality through the dramatic arts was awarded to the group of actresses from the National Theatre „Mihai Eminescu ” for the performance „CASA M ”. The topic of this art project is domestic violence. The stories presented to the audience come from real-life of some moldovan women who were either beaten by their spouses or went through terrible times in life.
This year, to recognize the achievements and successes achieved in the field of mass-media, the Gender Equality Diploma went to the journalist Alina Radu, Director of the newspaper „Ziarul de Garda”. The same Diploma was given to the Center for Investigative Journalism.
The most important Gender Equality Prize, awarded to a political party in which women take part in decision making, yet remain in the property of Political Club of Women – 50/50. That's because the organization is waiting to see what will be the situation of women in government and parliament after the negotiations between the political parties.
