ProGen Alliance – Election 2010 continues its work:
five non–governmental organizations active in the field of gender equality and promoting women – Political Club of Women 50/50, Centre Partnership for Development, Gender-Center, Club for Equal Opportunities „In Two”” and Women’s Organizations Forum, have presented the preliminary results of the 2010 Election monitoring from a gender perspective, at a press conference on the 17th of November 2010.
Through this demarche, the member organizations of the ProGen Alliance – Elections 2010 – aim at bringing into the public's attention, in particular, in the attention of the political parties, the importance of the principle of gender equality and gender issues.
The major purpose of the Alliance is to make public advocacy for gender equality in parliamentary elections 2010, in order to include gender dimension in the political agenda of elected political structures.
To achieve this goal, the Political Club of Women 50/50 implements, with the participation of the Alliance members, the Project –Promoting gender equality in parliamentary election campaign 2010– with financial support of the East European Foundation.
The Project is implemented in two stages:
1. 1. Monitoring the electoral campaign through gender perspective, namely programs and electoral platforms, statutes and electoral lists of political parties and media products.
2. 2. Encourage political parties and other civic initiatives that contributed to the promotion of gender equality, by offering the Gender Equality Prize, on the 11th of December during the Annual BAL „Women Can Do It”.
ProGen Alliance –Elections 2010 calls political parties to reconsider their electoral platforms and lists in terms of gender.
Let’s jointly contribute to strengthening democracy in Moldova by respecting basic human rights!
